Scholarship Recipient Testimonial

The Patrick-Desforges Scholarship was created to honour this exceptional biology professor who was also an excellent goaltender and a talented golfer. On a yearly basis, this award recognizes the contribution made by a student in the Bachelors of Biotechnology program, who has managed to combine athletic activity and academic achievement so as to maintain a healthy mind in a healthy body, as Patrick used to do. Every year, a group of La Cité employees organizes fundraising activities that benefit the Patrick-Desforges Scholarship fund in order to ensure its continuity.

The recipient of the 2014 Patrick-Desforges Scholarship is Marie-Claire Flores Pajot, a graduate of the Biotechnology program, who shared with us what this scholarship has helped her accomplish.  »I had said that if I won this scholarship I would run a marathon in Patrick Desforges’ honour. On Sunday May 25th, I kept that promise and ran my very first marathon during the Ottawa Race Weekend. I ran 42.4 km in four hours and 44 minutes. It was an incredible experience, one of which I am very proud!  »

She also thanked the La Cité Foundation and all donors who continue to convey Patrick Desforges’ inspiration.

We are proud to recognize Marie-Claire Flores Pagot’s commitment and determination toward her studies, and we congratulate her for her participation in the Ottawa Marathon. It is quite an accomplishment!
