Véronic DiCaire Scholarship
During the Awards Ceremonies, La Cité presented an honorary diploma for the third time in its history. This honorary diploma was awarded to the spokesperson for La Cité, Véronic DiCaire.
This honour recognizes her contribution and her commitment towards the French culture and language.
»Her perseverance and tenacity in pursuing and achieving her dreams make her a source of inspiration for all graduates. She is an exceptional ambassador through her pride in promoting the college and conveying the beauty of Ontario’s francophonie throughout the world. »
Véronic joins Gisèle Lalonde and the late Jean-Robert Gauthier who have also been awarded this honorary diploma by La Cité.
It was also at this time, on June 5th 2012, that Véronic announced the creation of the Véronic DiCaire Scholarship. This annual scholarship will allow one or many students to receive up to $10 000 to contribute toward academic achievement and encourage them to persevere throughout their studies.
In its first year, it was decided that the amount be awarded as two $5 000 scholarships to two students based on the eligibility requirements.
Following lengthy deliberation, the selection committee chose two recipients for the first Véronic DiCaire Scholarship. It is with great pleasure that we present these students to you and share their stories.
